On April 1st Heidi Eglintine, Jessica Selmer, and Rand Frazer appeared in front of the Weathersfield Town Select Board to ask for their support in making all park and recreation areas tobacco free.  On Thursday, June 3rd Heidi, Jessica, Rand, and Kaycee Herschel went to Select Board Meeting.  The Select Board agreed to make a policy to keep all park and recreation areas in the Town of Weathersfield tobacco free.  VKAT members will work with Courtney McKaig to create signs to post in all park and recreation areas.

Congratulations VKAT members for a job well done!

vkat-1On January, 27th  Heidi Eglintine, Jessica Selmer, and Meghan Snide representedvkat-2 Weathersfield VKAT at the State House. VKAT teams from  throughout the state participated in this event.  The girls gave a presentation to Governor Douglas highlighting the activities the group has accomplished. Heidi presented a graph detailing the amount of cigarette butts they collected from around the school, library, Town Hall, and Route 5 on the last Green Up Day.  Jessica presented the magnets we designed and the Tee Shirts we made for Green Up Day.  Meghan presented the book marks the members designed and made.

Students in grades 4 - 8 are welcome to join VKAT. Our goal is to inform as many students as we can about the dangers of tobacco use.
