We hold our graduation ceremony in high regard. It is a ceremony of honor and respect and, therefore, we hold our students responsible to the following in order to participate. All Students who are being promoted are eligible to participate in our Graduation Ceremony. Academic Requirement - There may be some students who will be socially promoted. After reviewing the student’s record, it may be determined that a student needs to go on to high school due to their age, maturity or previous retentions. If a student has failed two or more core subjects for the year (Science, Math, History & English), they will receive a certificate of attendance rather than a diploma and will not be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony. Students must pass three out of four core subjects for the year to be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony. Conduct Requirement - Any 8th grade student who has been suspended three or more times from school in their 8th grade year, will not be able to attend graduation. Additionally, any student that commits a particularly egregious offense as determined by the Superintendent and/or Board, may not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Parent and students will be notified in writing at least two weeks prior to graduation if their child’s attendance at graduation is at question. The above requirements have been supported and approved by the Weathersfield School Board and will be in effect for the June 2008 Graduation Ceremony.
